About Mary Pat Moriarty, MRE, MA
I have over 27 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, children and families in service, teaching, guidance and ministry. I am highly skilled in working with diverse populations and possess a creative style that helps individuals find the power and strength from within to reach their full potentials. I work with people of all ages and in various stages of life.
Education and Training
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Religion from the University of Florida, my Masters in Religious Education from Loyola University, New Orleans and my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. I have received training in EMDR, TF-CBT, and Recognize, Respond, Refer Domestic Violence training.
I completed my pre-practicum intern experience at PACE center for Girls that attends to the unique needs of teen girls who are identified as dependent, truant, runaway, delinquent, or in need of academic skills.
My internship was at the Healing Tree at Orlando Health where I completed training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Grief Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I worked with children and adolescent survivors of sex abuse and physical abuse or domestic violence and their non-offending guardians. I currently work on a grief/ bereavement team that works towards healing and comfort for all ages suffering grief from death, divorce or trauma.
I also have experience in working with couples preparing for marriage. I am trained in the FOCUUS inventory which is designed to help engaged couples appreciate their unique relationship, learn more about themselves, and discuss topics important to their lifelong marriage.
In my Oviedo, FL counseling office I work with many middle aged individuals that have found themselves “stuck” or searching for fulfilling identity. Often the anxiety and depression individuals experience comes from their unrealized dreams or ambitions.
Approach to Therapy
My therapy approach is unique for each person. You will find me warm, accepting and supportive. I celebrate each individual’s identity and feel humbled to walk with you in this time you seek support through counseling. I have a great appreciation for your thoughts, emotions and wishes. In the atmosphere of a safe and trusting therapy relationship, people can gain the understanding and skills need to make changes toward a life that feels more fulfilling.
Whether you come to therapy for alleviation of symptoms, deeper self-understanding or to get help responding to an internal or interpersonal conflict, therapy can help facilitate your inherent capacity for growth and resilience.
